Monte Carlo fire on Las Vegas Strip

Filed under: Blog, Las Vegas Hotels — admin @ 5:03 pm

Kudos to the Las Vegas firefighters for putting out the fast-spreading rooftop fire that damaged the top five stories of the 3,000 room Monte Carlo hotel and casino.  They doused the flames in just one hour – and even defied what they always tell amateurs never to do – they took the hotel elevators up to the fire so they could battle it from the windows of guest rooms (many of which still had the guests belongings still in them, as everyone had to beat a hasty retreat).

No word as to how many guests were displaced or for how long.  MGM Mirage management said they would put them in other MGM properties.  (Of course, for those displaced folks who are a bit edgy about going into another casino highrise, we still have room at our low-rise B&B - for a couple of you at least…).
